This small, round purple to all most black drupe has caught the attention of <em>people</em> world over within the past decade. Generally, known as a super food, the açaí palm is now widely cultivated for its fruit. A single mature palm bears two harvests annually.</p>
<p>The acai berry fruit is about an inch in size, and as compared to other berries has a large seed in it making the fruit less pulpy. The exocrap (outermost layer of the berry) turns a purple, black or sometimes even a green, upon ripening. The berry is used to flavor juice concentrates, liquorices and ice creams, whereas the seeds are grounded to make livestock food.</p>
<p>An important dietary component of the natives in the Brazilian Amazon, this grape look-alike now is being marketed as a wonder fruit not only for it nutritional value but also for its effectiveness in weight loss programs. The base for these claims are rooted in the acai berry’s high nutritional values, and potent antioxidants – anthocyanins and flavonoids which are known to fight varied diseases, by providing the cells with greater immunity to infections. And while all of these diseases are all classified as blood disorders, many different types of blood disorders present in many different ways and with many different symptoms, because of the many varied processes blood is responsible for throughout the body. Here now are some of the most common different types of blood disorders:</p>
<p><strong>1. Aplastic Anemia</strong>- While there are many different types of anemia, aplastic anemia is among the most common. Aplastic anemia occurs when bone marrow in the body produces too few of every type of blood cell, including red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets, each of which in turn has its own negative affects. Low red blood cells can cause a drop in hemoglobin, an oxygen carrying protein in the blood, while low white cells weakens the immune system and makes individuals more susceptible to disease. Low platelet count also has its own negative effects, the biggest of which is usually hindering blood from clotting.</p>
<p><strong>2. Sickle Cell Anemia</strong>- An inherited blood disorder, sickle cell disease is another type of anemia characterized by defective hemoglobin. In individuals with sickle cell, healthy red blood cells, which are circular in shape, are replaced with sickle shaped blood cells. These new blood cells have a highly diminished ability to carry oxygen throughout the body and can lead to an individual having symptoms such as pain, anemia, acute chest syndrome, stroke and jaundice. While sickle cell can occur in anyone, it has been found to be most common in those of African descent and Hispanics of Caribbean ancestry.</p>
<p><strong>3. Hemophilia</strong>- Hemophilia is a classification for a few different types of blood disorders, all of which prevent the blood from being able to form a firm clot quickly and normally. This inability of the blood to clot puts people with hemophilia at severe risk should they ever be bleeding.</p>
<p><strong>4. Leukemia</strong>- Sometimes referred to as cancer of the blood, leukemia starts in the tissues in the body that form blood. Rather than producing healthy white blood cells, people with leukemia produce abnormal cells called leukemia cells. These cells can interfere with the function of normal white blood cells, putting individuals with leukemia at severe risk. Of all of the different types of blood disorders, leukemia is considered one of the most deadly.</p>
<p>These are just a few of the different types of blood disorders, and while there are many more, all of which have their own causes and symptoms, the one commonality they hold is that they are all very serious, and usually require immediate attention. So if you believe that you many have a blood disorder of any kind, be sure to talk to your doctor about getting the testing, and possibly treatment, that you need.</p>

Some people simply yo-yo back and forth between losing weight and gaining it again. Things like that can often be contributed to binging on unhealthy foods and other lifestyle and dietary changes. Often times, many diets and weight loss goals fail simply because the person is not aware of just how to execute a proper diet change and keep weight off permanently. Here&#8217;s a few tips below to get you started on losing weight and staying trim.</p>
<p><strong> Exercise is completely necessary for weight loss</strong></p>
<p>When it comes to long term weight loss, exercise is an absolute key. One mistake that is made is the person makes healthier food choices, exercises maybe a little and loses weight. But, the exercise regime is not kept up and diet alone is usually not going to keep you trim and lean. For weight loss help, try to exercise at least 30 minutes several times a week. If you don&#8217;t have 30 minutes because of one particularly busy day, exercise for 10 instead. It&#8217;s better to exercise for 10 minutes than not at all, and it will keep you on track so you don&#8217;t fall off the exercise bandwagon. Just remember not to exercise too close to bed time, as that can inhibit proper sleep.</p>
<p><strong>Avoid foods that trigger weight gain</strong></p>
<p>More than likely, you know which foods in particular that make your pants fit a bit tighter. Try to avoid those foods as much as possible and always carry a healthy snack to avoid having to eat out of a vending machine. If you have certain foods that you have an emotional attachment to or that you go to if you are stressed, keep them out of your pantry and opt for a healthier yet tasty snack. The key is to not feel deprived. For example, rather than a bowl of ice cream you could substitute that for apple or banana and nut butter topped with a few chocolate chips. Healthy foods can taste good, too. Focus on eating healthy foods and exercising, while not worrying too much about the scale. Stress over whether or not you&#8217;ll lose weight can often impede the problem further, because stress can cause weight gain. Instead, modify your diet so that it includes plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, little to no packaged foods and plenty of water. More than likely, you&#8217;ll find that you will start trimming down in no time.</p>
