If you are from the South American continent especially Brazil this berry would be very familiar to you. They would resemble a very tiny grape at the first instance. But as all berries acai berry is a small, spherical and has large pith at the center. The outer skin in ripe berries is a deep purplish black or a green color depending on the type of the berry and the age of maturity. The seed is large almost eighty-percent of the fruit and is surrounded by a common thickness of pulp.

For every 100g of the berry extract, half of it, that is almost 52.2g is Carbohydrate, fat content is 32.5g and protein 8.1g. Of the 52.2g Carbohydrate, 44.2g is in the fiber form. Chemically the berry is rich in fatty acids and is formed by oleic acid, palmitic acid and lineolic acid.
The rich antioxidant qualities of the berry were known to the ancient Amazonians and are now, extensively, used commercially by the outside world.
